As a part of Advanced Technological Education grant, Texas A&M University has developed and offered continuing education modules for industry professionals. The broad topics of these education modules included “Manufacturing Operations Excellence” and “Manufacturing Quality Excellence”. The goal of these modules was to bridge the skills gap in current workforce by providing customized continuing education in High Value Manufacturing as per the industry needs.
These programs were offered in Houston Metropolis area to reach out to energy industry particularly oil and gas industry. The educational sessions were offered in the summer of 2018 and 2019 at Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) , Houston. Both programs were two-days long and focused on two key aspects of high value manufacturing: manufacturing operations excellence and manufacturing quality excellence. The program structure and course materials were developed based on feedback from industry advisory board for the Manufacturing Center of Excellence at Houston Community College. Both courses were equipped with several hands-on exercises and best practices that industry participants could implement in their work settings.
